The Summer House
A dilapidated Grade II curtilage listed C17 cart shed in The Cotswolds has been converted to create ‘The Summerhouse’. The first phase of a much larger project to carry out works to a beautiful Cotswold Manor House and its various outbuildings.
The Summer House occupies a tremendous position on the estate, adjoining wild flower meadows with far reaching views across open countryside, cleverly fusing together both the internal and external spaces with its open-fronted glazed elevation, jowelled oak posts and beams supporting a solid stone slate roof.
The structure was carefully dismantled, stonework reconstructed, elm trusses sensitively repaired before being re-assembled. A modern and elegant interior has been created with a recessed Skyframe glass façade, wide plank Dinesen floors, underfloor heating and minimal visual intervention.
Leckhampton Builders were appointed as the Principle Contractor on this project overseeing the construction phase.
